Robber remanded in custody

ALEXANDRA – The victim led the police to the accused's home, where he was arrested.


An Alex man arrested for robbery has been remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending further investigation.

The accused, known to the victim, allegedly committed the offence on Vincent Tshabalala Road at about 6pm on 24 February with an accomplice who is still at large.

The victim was walking when the accused, who was armed, allegedly stopped him, demanded money and hit him on the head and ear with the butt of the gun. The accomplice searched the victim and took his wallet containing R370.

He further hit him on the shoulder with a brick and smashed his cell phone before the two left when they saw people approaching. The victim reported the incident at Alex Police Station and led officers to the accused’s home where he was arrested and denied bail.
