Local youngster on a mission to revive reading culture in Alexandra

ALEXANDRA – Gomolemo wants to help youngsters become fountains of wisdom through books reading.

The 18-year-old Gomolemo Seboko, founder and chairperson of a non-profit organisation Each One Teach One, is on a mission to revive the culture of reading books in Alexandra Township through an initiative called ‘donate a book’.

Seboko, who is a first-year student in digital music production and composition at Boston Media College and content producer at the community broadcaster Alex FM, said she started the initiative to help nurture, promote the culture of reading and lend a helping hand in learning in her community.

“The initiative that I’ve recently started is aimed at bringing back the culture of reading in our society. I’ve realised that many of us, especially the younger generation, are unable to read because we spend most of the time watching TV and browsing social media. I am hoping that the initiative which is aimed mostly at young people will encourage youngsters to read more books.

“We are calling upon anyone with a book that he or she doesn’t use to donate it. We as an organisation will donates those books to youngsters who pledged to take a challenge of reading one book a month.”

To donate a book, Gomolemo Seboko can be contacted on 062 504 5447 or by an email at sebokogmolemo66@gmail.com.
