Police seek help in motorist’s shooting

ALEXANDRA - Trigger happy motorist wanted for shooting at tavern.

The Alexandra Police Station asked residents to help trace a motorist who is wanted for the alleged attempted murder of another motorist.

Station spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji said the victim was shot in the stomach and was being treated in hospital. The incident occurred at about midnight on 23 March on 10th Road, Kew.

The victim and his companion stopped at a tavern where they wanted to buy beer. In the process of parking, the victim went into the back of the vehicle in which the suspect was sitting. The suspect called the victim to come and discuss the incident. As he and his companion walked towards the other car, the suspect shot the victim. He then fired two shots at the victim’s companion but missed him. The suspect apparently drove away and an ambulance was called to the scene.

Malatji asked those who might have witnessed the incident to contact the police even if they think the information is insignificant.
