Alex police collaborate with local churches to fight crime

ALEXANDRA – Malatjie said the meeting was aimed at asking the churches to help the station curb the stubborn scourge of crime.

The Alexandra Police Station said it will now work closely with local churches to combat crime in the notorious streets of Alex.

This was after station management met with the leaders of different local churches to discuss ways to combat crime and the role of the church in a fight against crime in the area.

The 2018 police crime statistics unveiled earlier this year revealed that Alexandra was among the 10 worst precincts in which contact crime and other related crimes were committed.

According to Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Stephen Malatjie, the meeting, chaired by the head of the station Brigadier Zoleka Khuboni, was aimed at roping in churches to help the station curb the stubborn scourge of crime.

“The newly adopted approach of divine intervention is going to be a counter force against the evil spirit of crime prevailing in our country and we are going to do so working in conjunction with our local churches.’

“We strongly believe in the Holy Scriptures which says that we fight is against the principalities of darkness, not the flesh and to win such battle we must fight it in spirit as well.”
