Called stupid and slapped

ALEXANDRA – Christmas night of hell for East Bank man.

A man accused of pointing a gun at a victim was granted bail by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending further hearing.

The 31-year-old accused was arrested for the incident which occurred at 11.30pm on Christmas Fay at an East Bank home.

He is said to have approached the victim who was drinking alcohol with friends and told him that he was disrespectful, stupid and slapped him on the face.

When the victim asked about the assault, the accused left telling him that he would return which he did moments later, carrying a weapon. He allegedly pinned its barrel against the victim’s forehead causing him to plead for mercy. The accused retreated giving the victim time to bolt off towards his nearby home. When he turned around to check, he screamed for help when he saw the accused following him.

Community members attracted by the screaming forced the accused to deviate to his own home nearby when he saw them approaching. The residents followed him into his room and retrieved the gun from under a pillow.

Police officers called to the house arrested and charged him for pointing a gun and illegal gun possession.
