City of Joburg partners with Pink Drive to commemorate World Cancer Day in Alex

The City of Johannesburg has on Monday partnered with Pink Drive to commemorate the World Cancer Day at the East Bank Clinic in Alexandra. The aim of the partnership was to mobilise and empower the community with knowledge and how to tackle cancer.

Dr Mpho Phalatse, MMC for Health and Social Development, said patients who come to their clinics will be sent to Pink Drive facilities for mammograms.

Free screenings that were offered on-site included high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, breast cancer and cervical cancer. The residents of Alexandra went to the East Bank Clinic in numbers for screening as well as getting educated on health.

The commemoration of the World Cancer Day was not only for screening, but residents also participated in activities such as aerobics.
