An Alex man who allegedly raped his friend’s lover was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending further investigation.
The 35-year-old suspect who allegedly raped the victim at night on 23 December was arrested the next day after she had reported the incident to the police. He failed in the first bail bid on 7 January and the case was postponed to 28 January.
He met the victim at a drinking place. When she asked him where her boyfriend was, he told her that he was at home which he shared with the boyfriend. Afterwards, when she told him that she was leaving to spend the night with her boyfriend, he accompanied her. When they arrived at the home, she found that her boyfriend was not there and slept in his room.
The suspect sneaked into the room afterwards and when she resisted his advances, he became aggressive and told her that her boyfriend was away. He forced himself onto her without a condom. When he was done, he left for his room and, she followed to confront him but he refused to open the door. She reported him, leading to arrest.
