Alex residents and motorists warned of possible flooding

ALEXANDRA – "We are urging residents to monitor their kids to stay away from the area so that we can prevent drowning incidents," said the City's Emergency Management Services.

The City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) has issued a warning of possible flooding to the residents of Alex living on the banks of Jukskei River.

Robert Mulaudzi, the EMS spokesperson for the City of Johannesburg, said the residents who live in the low areas on the banks of the river have been asked to move to safe areas as the rain continues.

“We are urging residents to monitor their kids to stay away from the area so that we can prevent drowning incidents. We also urged motorists on our roads to be extra vigilant as the wet weather conditions continue,” said Mulaudzi.

He said the emergency services department will be on standby and monitor the situation in the area until the water level decreases.
