Tensions flare over RDP housing in Alex – reports

ALEXANDRA – The Gauteng Department of Human Settlements is reportedly aware of and investigating the alleged evictions.

According to reports, tensions are flaring in Alexandra where foreign nationals allege that locals are forcibly removing them from RDP houses.

EWN reports that the police say three cases related to the evictions have been opened.

The Sowetan further reports that there had been eight complaints laid with police and that the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements was aware of and investigating the alleged evictions.

EWN also reports that the foreign nationals allegedly accused police of ‘siding with the locals’, although police refute these claims, saying cases have been opened.
