Fairmount Bowling Club’s ‘Glo in the Dark’ bowls sparks keen interest in young bowlers

FAIRMOUNT -– A new concept of Glo in the Dark bowls has proved to be hit with youngsters.

 

Brian and Deborah Lewis, who run Fairmount Bowling Club, introduced Glo in the Dark bowls at the club.

This new concept of playing bowls has been launched overseas but has never been initiated in South Africa.

This event was held at the club on 22 November and attracted many keen youngsters who were intrigued by the fun aspect of Glo in the Dark bowls.

Deborah said the evening was an enormous success in attracting many young enthusiastic teens. “The evening was accompanied with a DJ and party favours for all the women who participated. We believe you don’t have to bowl really well to have a good time and a good time was most definitely had by all.

“It was a very brightly colour-coordinated event and a most memorable function to date which we like to call ‘bowling with a little something extra’.”

She added that under new management, the club had gone from strength to strength with the main focus definitely being community driven. “By opening up these new concepts to the younger generation, we feel we are achieving our goal of ‘thinking outside the box’ so to speak.

“We are pleased to say that we now have many new bowlers onboard and our Glo in the Dark bowls initiative is firmly attributed to this.”

The next Glo in the Dark event will be held in the new year and the club welcomes everyone who wants to participate in this new fun event.
