Centurion Catholic Church donates goodies to Thabisong Day Care Centre

ALEXANDRA – Thabisong Day Care Centre principal Ntsoaki Tshoagong said the gift from Liz and her team was beyond her expectations.

The students of University of Pretoria, led by a member of Centurion Catholic Church Liz Morelli, sacrificed their exam preparation time to lend a helping hand painting Thabisong Day Care Centre in Alexandra.

According to Morelli, the church committee was approached by Alex community member Philemon Matume of the non-profit organisation Blessed is the Hand that Gives to help paint the two classes in the centre.

“We were approached by Philemon who told us there was a need to paint two bigger classes of the facility and we decided to chip in. We bought the paint and a lot of teddy bears and toys to donate for children here in Thabisong. We will paint and decorate the classes with nice pictures today. All the stuff we brought today were donated by our church members and other community members in our area,” Morelli said.

According to Ntsoaki Tshoagong, the principal at Thabisong Day Care Centre, the facility was in a dire need of refurbishment since it is an old building. She thanked Morelli and her team for offering the help her school needed desperately.

“The walls of our classrooms were in a terrible situation. We teach young children whose health should always be a priority to us. Having classroom walls with paint that was falling apart was really concerning to us as management of the school,” said Tshoagong.
