Galxcoc hosts a seminar to empower local entrepreneurs

ALEXANDRA – Local entrepreneurs are urged to use artificial intelligence to grow their businesses.

The Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce (Galxcoc) in collaboration with the First National Bank (FNB) celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week South Africa with local small businesses, this year under the theme: Empowering a local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

One of the guest speakers at the seminar, founder of Payment Pebble and GattacZA, Stafford Masie addressed dozens of delegates who attended the event in Club Neh, Alexandra.

Masie said entrepreneurs should focus on people more than understanding the technology that runs their businesses. “The Fourth Industrial Revolution is about understanding people more, not to understand technology better. Because artificial intelligence is technology that you don’t have to worry about, it is not the technology that you should go out and buy. What you need to do is to understand how artificial intelligence is making people express themselves in a particular way within the context of your business. How can you make your business better with people that are empowered with technology outside of your business,” he said.

“In order for your business to grow, you should allow people to talk about your business. If people buy something from you, are you allowing them to say something about it? Do you allow them to share their experience with others about your product or services,” Masie asked.

In his closing remarks of the seminar, the chairperson of Galxcoc Mpho Motsumi thanked FNB for sharing the chamber’s vision of creating and enabling an environment for local businesses. “We thank you FNB for sharing this vision with us. People should know that we are actually at a stage of developing a techno hub for people with challenges in accessing the internet for services that FNB will be offering. Those services will be for free and we’ve already acquired computers and server room that will assist in that process,” he concluded.
