DA wants to be the majority party in Gauteng after next year’s general elections

ALEXANDRA – In just two years the DA-led coalition government has been able to turn things around in a number of municipalities.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng provincial leader John Moodey said his party has managed to bring corruption to its knees in all municipalities previously led by the ANC government.

Moodey was speaking at the party’s One Team Gauteng launch held in Tsutsumani Park in Alexandra.

“In just two years after we took over from the corrupt ANC led government in Tshwane, the City of Johannesburg and other municipalities around the province, we have been able to turn things around in all these municipalities we took from them in which corruption and maladministration was the order of the day,” he said.

Moodey said the DA will work hard to ensure that it becomes a majority party in the province after the next year’s general election. “We want to ensure that in the coming general elections, we acquire majority votes in the province. If we don’t get more than 50 per cent, we are open for coalition government talks after elections with other parties as we did in 2016.”
