St Michael and All Angels celebrate 88 years in Alexandra

ALEXANDRA – St Michael and All Angels celebrated 88 years of existence in Alexandra.

 

St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church in Alexandra celebrated its 88th year anniversary and heritage day concurrently.

Congregants of St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church who were wearing their colourful African traditional attire filled the main hall of the church singing songs of praise and worship and giving thanks to God for 88 years of the church’s service in the community.

According to Rector Clayton Moitsiwa of St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Alexandra, the church opened its doors in 1930 and it has been for the past 88 years instrumental in building the community and changing lives of many people in Alexandra.

“Since St Michael and All Angels opened its doors in 1930, we’ve seen how God has been faithful to its ministry. We’ve seen lives being changed and witnessed this parish becoming a beacon of hope and a place of solace for the community of Alexandra,” he said.

“We have also invited members of the community and community-based choirs to partake of this big celebration because this is their church too.”

After the sermon, St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church Choir and other community-based choirs kept attendees on their feet with stunning musical performances. At the end of the event congregants and visitors indulged in delicacies that the church prepared for the day.
