Diplomats’ ‘robber’ awaits gun sentence

ALEX – 'Hijacking robber' sentenced for illegal gun, bullets.

A man who was initially charged with hijacking and armed robbery was instead found guilty of illegal possession of a gun and ammunition.

Nqobile Moyo (35) of Hillbrow is awaiting sentencing in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for the possession of two guns and ammunition which were found at his home. He was part of a gang of four arrested in June, days after they hijacked and robbed Iranian diplomats in Bramley after following them from OR Tambo Airport.

The victims failed to identify the four in a parade but their stolen goods were found at the homes of Moyo’s co-accused who were each sentenced in June to 12 months’ imprisonment or a fine of R3 000 and four-year jail terms which were suspended for five years.
