An Alex man is appearing in Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The accused who is yet to plead was arrested on 25 June by patrolling police officers for the offence which occurred at a drinking outlet on 8th Avenue.
He is said to have shot at the victim at night on 1 June but the bullet only grazed his head. The victim fell to the ground and then got up and ran away. The accused also left the scene and remained wanted until the officers stopped him while he was walking with a companion. The companion complied and he tried to flee but was arrested after he tripped and fell.
A gun with four rounds of ammunition was found in his possession. It wasn’t specified if the weapon was the same one used in the attempted murder.
