The Givers aid Investigators celebrate lives of senior citizens

ALEXANDRA – Cope leader urges youngsters to respect elders so that they will live longer.

A community-based organisation, The Givers aid Investigators, hosted a special event to celebrate the lives of four Alexandra senior citizens in Sankopano Community Centre on Friday 28 September.

The organisation celebrated Ntebatxe Mokone (92) Magret Motloung (93), Mable Moloi (94) and Linah Sihlali (98).

According to the founder of the Givers aid Investigators Lucas Hlakola, their organisation started its operations in May 2013 as a non-profit company and it was amended to a profitable company with the Department of Trade and Industry in 2017.

“Among other things we do is to investigate and expose cases of fraud, corruption, unpaid benefits to the rightful beneficiaries and human trafficking. We also do social work like donating wheelchairs for disabled people and elders in different communities,” he said.

“As a community-based organisation that works with elders in most cases, we have decided to honour these four community elders. They are all above 90 years of age and they have contributed to building our community in different ways.”

Linah Sihlali, one of the seniors who was celebrated, thanked The Givers aid Investigators for organising such an event for them.

In attendance was the Congress of the People (Cope) president Mosiuoa Lekota who urged young people to take care of their lives and stay away from drugs and substance abuse so that they can live longer.
