KwaNobuhle women celebrate the end of Heritage Month on a high note

ALEXANDRA– IFPWB chairperson urged young women to take care of themselves and eat healthy African traditional food.

The Inkatha Freedom Party Women’s Brigade in Alexandra ended Heritage Month on a high note.

The Women’s Brigade hosted a Heritage Month celebration day and a workshop for young women at KwaNobuhle Hostel. The event was aimed at teaching girls how to live a healthy lifestyle and protecting themselves from sexually transmitted diseases. According to Nqobile Mngomezulu, the chairperson of the Women’s Brigade Almon Ximba branch, the event was triggered by a growing need to teach young women, who often fall into the trap of teenage pregnancy, how to take care of themselves and their bodies.

“We are having this workshop event as part of celebrating Heritage Month with the young women of Alexandra,” she said.

“One of the objectives of this event was to raise awareness about teenage pregnancy. We want to teach them how to live a healthy lifestyle and the importance of eating healthy African traditional food.

“Our young girls are the victims and most vulnerable when it comes to sexually transmitted diseases and they fall pregnant at a very young age because we don’t talk to them.”

Attendees listened to traditional music and ate a variety of African traditional food prepared for the event.
