Three men who were arrested for the alleged attempted murder of a man in Alex were each granted R1 000 bail in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.
This pending further investigation by the police.
The incident occurred early evening on 27 August on 6th Avenue. The accused and the victim are neighbours.
The victim’s mother saw seven men assaulting her son with an assortment of weapons. When she intervened, they pushed her aside and continued assaulting him.
The mother rushed to Alex Police Station for help and officers arrived at the scene, stopped the assault and called an ambulance which took the severely injured victim to a hospital for treatment.
Three of the suspects were identified and arrested and the others are at large.
