Former Vimtsire Protection Service employees vow to fight for their money

ALEXANDRA – Former employees of VPS have vowed to fight for what belongs to them.

Former employees of Vimtsire Protection Service (VPS) have allegedly not been paid money owing to them after they parted ways with the security service company in June this year.

A group of former employees told Alex News that more than 200 of their colleagues of VPS Region E office had joined the Metro police after the City of Johannesburg introduced the insourcing of its security services in June this year. However, they had not received their outstanding salaries and bonuses from the company.

According to Mbongiseni Zuma who worked at VPS for more than five years, the company has apparently failed to pay them, even after the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) ordered the company to pay the former employees.

“When we left the company and joined the [Metro police] in June this year, our former employer VPS promised at the CCMA to pay us our service money and bonuses by the end of August this year,” said Zuma.

“Up until today, we haven’t received our money. Some colleagues received R1 500 and when we asked what this money was for Godfrey Nematandane, the company director, didn’t respond to us until today.”

The group has vowed to fight for their money. “Even if the company goes into liquidation, we will wait patiently for all processes until we get what belongs to us,” concluded Zuma.

Nematandane was contacted and declined to comment on the issue.
