Tsutsumani community ready to fight criminals in their streets

ALEXANDRA – Tsutsumani community take the safety of their streets upon themselves.

Community members of Tsutsumani in Second Park held a special meeting to address crime and service issues.

According to Cameron Street Committee chairperson Tryphina Letsebe, the meeting on Wednesday 5 September was called after a number of criminal activities were reported to the committee in the past few weeks.

“We had this meeting tonight to discuss issues of crime after numerous cases of housebreaking have been reported to us in the past few weeks. We wanted to find ways, together with community members, on how we are going to deal with this evil trend in our neighbourhood,” she said.

“As community members of Second Park, we have agreed to establish a formidable team of street patrollers who will work with the community to ensure safety on our streets. We will not allow criminals to do as they please in our neighbourhood.

“We will soon meet with Alexandra police to establish a working relationship with them.”

Among those in attendance was DA’s PR councillor of the City of Johannesburg Shadrack Mkhonto who received resident’s list of grievances on behalf of the City and promised to take them to the relevant City departments.
