An audit firm has stepped up to help the youngsters of Alex High School to not only fly, but soar.
Sekela Consulting and Xabiso Chartered Accountants (SkX) has partnered with the school to ensure that next year’s matriculates are well prepared and drilled to face the daunting examinations.
Close to 300 learners were given new school jerseys and SkX has taken a decision to adopt the school. The decision means SkX will use its corporate social investment fund allocations to benefit the learners by supplying them with much-needed items to help them fly with their studies.
SkX, of 15 Forest Rd, Waverley, is a 100 per cent black-owned company created in 2012 and one of the only professional services firms of their size in the country that specialises in the provision of advisory and transaction advisory services.
On 17 August this year, the company donated paper to Alex High School as part of its programme to assist the school in reproducing more than 42 000 past examination papers for the current Grade 12 class of the school. The 2018 matric class will be sitting for their matric examinations in less than 60 days from that date and SkX is playing an active role in ensuring that the learners are prepped and ready.
SkX also runs a bursary scheme for deserving students. Nokwanda Sikhakhane, a final year geology student at Wits University and one of the five beneficiaries of the SkX bursary scheme, encouraged the Alexandra High School learners to focus their energy on studying and achieving good grades.
