Two brothers gunned down as they prepare to leave for work

ALEXANDRA – Only airtime vouchers were taken from the Sithole brothers after they were shot and killed by an unknown suspect.

 

The police have launched a manhunt after two brothers were shot and killed at their home on 8th Avenue on 17 August.

According to the Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Stephen Malatjie, the two self-employed Sithole brothers aged 40 and 43, were about to leave for work when a suspect opened fire and stole a bag which contained airtime vouchers, belonging to the brothers

“At around 3.30am on 17 August, the neighbours of [the brothers] woke up to the sound of gunshots… Apparently, the brothers were about to go to work when they were attacked,” Malatjie said.

“A bag containing airtime vouchers was taken and the motive for the killing is still unknown.”

A case of murder has been opened and the police have urged members of the community with information to come forward.

In another case, police have confirmed arresting a suspect for murder and attempted murder after a man was shot and killed and his friend was wounded on the corner of 11th Avenue and Roosevelt Street on 27 July.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court.
