Engie SA gives back to the community

ALEXANDRA – Global utility Engie lends a helping hand to a local orphanage home.

 

The employees of the independent energy producer Engie Southern Africa has donated tons of winter clothes and blankets to the Ratang Bana Orphanage in Alexandra.

According to utility’s Annie van Greuning, the employees collected clothes and blankets to donate to the orphanage home. “Engie is a company committed to citizenship and solidarity in the communities in which it operates. Ratang Bana is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to add value to children’s lives and help them to reach their goals we are happy to be part of such.”

Founder of Ratang Bana Orphanage Ingrid Maredi said they were very grateful that corporates like Engie have come to their rescue after the government declined their grant applications numerous times.

“We thank Engie for lending a helping hand to our home. We are solely dependent on donations as from individuals and different organisations after we were decline grant applications by the government,” she said.Maredi urged corporate not to turn a blind eye to the realities of communities they operate in.
