ALEXANDRA– Boitumelo Moremedi said he always strives to do his level best in the lives of those children he teaches.

Alexandra school teacher, Boitumelo Moremedi has been awarded the Best Mathematics Educator by World ORT.

World ORT is an accredited non-profit education and training organisation which train and empowers engineering, mathematics and Information Technology teachers in 37 countries around the world.

Moremedi, who started his teaching career in 2015 at Alex High School, was also given a $10 000 (about R140 000) cash prize. Moremedi said working with World ORT for the past three years had helped him grow as a young educator.

“I started working with World ORT in 2015 because I wanted to gain more experience and knowledge as a mathematics teacher. I’ve enjoyed the three years journey with World ORT and it was indeed rewarding for me,” he said.

“As a young educator who grew up in a financially disadvantaged family in the rural areas of North West province, I always strive to do my best in the lives of those children I work with, most of whom happen to also come from economically disadvantaged families as well.”

Alex High principal Zoleka Libilo thanked Moremedi for putting the name of their school on the map and urged other educators to always strive for the best in their daily tasks.
