According to Emily Thomas of Gift of the Givers, a non-profit organisation, the giant cake was baked by Thusong Cake Masters who they worked with in preparation for this year’s celebration of Madiba.

“We came to Alexandra as Gift of the Givers to celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela, the legend of our lifetime. We collaborated with two local businessmen – Doctor Mokoena and Gift Maruma of Thusong Cake Masters – who requested to work with us on this initiative,” she said

“We as Gift of the Givers donated all the ingredients, and they baked the cake.”
