St Mary’s School, Waverley, is proud to announce that Keara Martino (Grade 12) was declared the winner of the 2018 De Beers English Olympiad while
Emma Rogers (Grade 10) who had also participated in the competition, was placed in the top 15.
“St Mary’s School is delighted to announce that Keara was the first prize winner, taking the 2018 De Beers English Olympiad and her colleague, Emma, placed 13th overall,” said Kathy Mittendorf, head of marketing at the school.
Keara’s first prize is a whopping R33 000 and is intended to be used to broaden her opportunity for study and travel. Emma also received a cash prize.
In total, St Mary’s had seven girls who were placed in the top 100 of this competition from over 6 400 candidates who entered this year.
