Donate your unwanted kids’ books to children who need them

West Pack Lifestyle has challenged community members to match or exceed their 10 000-book donation by Wednesday 18 July on Nelson Mandela Day.

Do you have any books gathering dust at home? We need them to help inspire a new generation of book lovers and help local charities in need.

To celebrate West Pack Lifestyle’s 10th birthday, the retail group, its partner Butterfly Stationery and Caxton Local Media will be donating 10 000 new books to 10 local charities on Nelson Mandela Day.

But this is where we need your help.

West Pack Lifestyle has challenged community members to match or exceed their 10 000-book donation by Wednesday 18 July on Nelson Mandela Day.

If this target is met, the retail group has committed to helping more charities in need across South Africa.

Who are the charities?

1. Botshabelo Baby Home
2. Midrand Child Welfare
3. New Jerusalem Children’s Home
4. Oasis Haven of Love Foundation
5. Yenzani Children’s Home
6. Hlanganani Orphan Care
7. Bona Lesedi
8. Reach For A Dream
9. SOS Children’s Village
10. Johannesburg Children’s Home

How will the charities benefit?

On Wednesday 18 July, Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday, volunteers from Caxton Local Media, under the Caxton Cares banner, and West Pack Lifestyle will visit 10 local charities across Gauteng to distribute and share the donation of 10 000 new books. Keep a close eye on our Facebook pages for live videos, or read our next edition to follow this developing story.

Why is my favourite charity not included?

Caxton Local Media care deeply about community, so choosing only 10 local charities to be recipients of West Pack Lifestyle’s donation was a very difficult task. Each charity was reviewed and chosen because of their passion for community and providing a place of safety, support and care for the children who find themselves there. If you know of a charity that deserves to be included, email your nomination to socialmedia@westpacklifestyle.co.za
