Help sought on dumped foetus

ALEXANDRA – Police are on the hunt to find whoever is responsible for the concealment of the body of a baby that was found in rubble.

Alexandra Police Station is appealing to the public to come forward with any information they might have regarding the body of a baby found dumped in rubble.

Acting spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi said the case of concealment of the foetus was reported to the police on 3 July by members of the public. “Paramedics summoned to the scene certified the death. No information has been forthcoming on suspects and we appeal to the community to help provide details of suspects. They must know that it is an offence for failing to report the death,” he said.

Mododi urged those tempted to abandon unwanted babies to seek professional help from the Department of Social Development or the police.

Mogodi also encouraged community members to engage in sector meetings where crime issues are discussed with the police. He said this the same week police arrested 68 offenders for various crimes including murder, rape, assault, robbery, arson, malicious damage to property, drug-related offences, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless and negligent driving and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
