Plot robbers nabbed

ALEXANDRA – Court remands robbers of Midrand plot in custody.

Two men who are suspected of committing a business break-in at a Midrand plot were remanded in custody by Alex Magistrates’ Court.

The suspects from Olievenhoutbosch are said to have been part of a gang of four, two of who are still at large. The two men were apprehended at about 6.45pm on 23 May by the co-owner of the business assisted by another man.

A guard at the plot had called the other co-owner about strangers at the premises and, was advised by the co-owner to hide while he called his partner. When the two men arrived, one suspect fled on foot. The other three suspects appeared from the ceiling of the building and tried to flee with one getting away while two were apprehended.

An inspection of the premises revealed that the perpetrators had cut copper cables and window handles presumably to sell. The two were handed over to the police and appeared before Magistrate Renier Boshoff who postponed the case pending further investigation.
