Two suspects arrested following high-speed chase

FOURWAYS – Two suspects have been arrested after a high-speed chase and shoot-out with police in Modderfontein.

Suspects linked to an alleged robbery have been arrested following a shoot-out with police in Modderfontein.

According to information received, the road has been closed to allow a police helicopter to land at the scene. Sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso spokesperson for the Sebenza Police Station confirmed the incident took place.

Tsotsotso said there were four suspects in a vehicle that was being monitored by police. “They were followed from Kempton Park to the Fourways area where they realised police were following them.”

She said a high-speed chase ensued which ended in a shoot-out with police in Modderfontein. “Two suspects have been arrested and a third was shot during the shoot-out.”

Tsotsotso said the fourth suspect is still at large after evading the police. She added that the suspects have possible links to a house robbery,

Rolex robberies and hijackings in Alexandra. “The suspect’s vehicle had been hijacked in Alexandra a few weeks ago.”

The suspects will be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, attempted murder and hijacking.

“Two firearms were found in the vehicle,” said Tsotsotso.
