A boy of about five years old fell from the stairs of the Number 3 Square Grounds building in Alexandra on 3 June, badly injuring his head and back.

This happened at about 4pm. The secretary-general of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association, Mafika Morajane called for an ambulance. It promptly arrived and whisked the boy to an unnamed hospital for treatment of his injuries and he is believed to be recuperating well.

Marojane said, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my and the football fraternity’s gratitude for a job well done on the part of the Alex Emergency Management Services.

“Hats off to you guys for a superb job… and service delivery at its best.

“This is the kind of service South Africans deserve to get [when they are] in any dire situation to save [their] lives.

“To the personnel who responded promptly, we would like to say to them, thank you and keep up the good work and we trust the boy is much better now.”
