#ShackFire: Love triangle murder case postponed – accused remains in custody

JOBURG – Woman accused of killing Alex family remanded in custody.

 

The case against the Alexandra woman accused of killing a family in a fire has been postponed to 11 May for further investigations. Alex News understands that the accused, Mpho Vanessa Sedimela, has abandoned her bail application.

Sedimela is accused of starting a fire that claimed the lives of Sisona Nibe (8), Mpumelelo Nibe (5), Xolelwa Dyantyi (29) and Nelisiwe Mqongo (16).

The accused is understood to be the girlfriend of the father of the two young deceased, Sisona and Mpumelelo Nibe.

The incident occurred on 6 April in the early hours of the morning after the accused had allegedly poured petrol and set alight a shack belonging to a woman, believed to have been in the relationship with the same man as the accused.

There were no other injuries or fatalities reported when the news broke out, however, several others shacks were damaged including residents’ valuables and vehicles.

The accused is facing four counts of murder and one of arson. She has already told the court that she intends to plead not guilty to all charges. She remains in custody.
