20-year-old woman raped at a tavern in Orange Grove

ORANGE GROVE – The suspect forced himself on the victim without a condom.

 

A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped without protection at a tavern in Orange Grove by a known suspect and police are yet to make an arrest.

According to the Norwood police, the incident took place on 17 March at Pillars Tavern along Louis Botha Avenue while the victim was partying with a friend.

The spokesperson for the Norwood Police Station, Captain Elliot Tshivhase, said the case is still under investigation.

It is apparent that the suspect forced himself on the victim inside his car without even using a condom, said Tshivhase.

“The accused, known to the victim’s friend, asked the victim to join him in his white Mercedes-Benz before he took advantage of her,” reported Tshivhase.

“While they were in the car, the suspect undressed the victim without her consent. He then locked the car and forced himself on the victim without using a condom.”

During that time, a friend came to the car and Tshivhase claimed that she witnessed the incident which happened in a parking lot.

A case of rape has been opened with the Norwood police and Tshivhase said an investigation is underway.
