Robbers beaten by residents before being handed over to police

ALEXANDRA – Residents rescue robbery victim.

 

Two men suspected of common robbery in Alex were apprehended and beaten by residents before they handed them over for arrested by Alex Police.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said a third accomplice escaped with items taken from the escaped victim. “The suspects pounced on the victim at 9.30pm on 4 March as he entered the gate of his home on 10th Avenue. They allegedly assaulted him with fists causing bruises on the face, searched him and took from his pocket R750 in cash and a cell phone worth R200.”

The victim was saved by residents who responded to his screams and attacked the suspects with bricks inflicting injuries on them before apprehending the two while the third escaped with the victim’s items. Police were called and arrested the two men.
