Victim stoned, burnt to death

ALEXANDRA – Two nights of three murders in Alex.

 

Officers at the Alex Police Station are investigating the murder in the township, of two male victims whose bodies were found four hours apart on 3 March and another male victim who was killed the next day.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said officers called to the scene of the first incident found the victim’s body already certified dead by paramedics, surrounded by onlookers at 5pm in 5th Avenue. The body with multiple gunshot wounds and scratch marks on the chest was identified by a brother as that of Wilson Nzimande. Five empty cartridges were recovered at the scene.

Captain Kodisang said the second victim’s body was found by police at 9.30pm at the intersection of League and Shibobo streets, Extension 7. It had head and body wounds sustained by stoning and was burnt allegedly by the community. The victim was certified dead on the scene by paramedics and identified by his brother as 30-year-old Fanuel Shilemana.

The third victim’s body with multiple gunshot wounds was found by police at 11pm on 4 March lying on a bed in a room on 1st Avenue. The deceased was identified by a neighbour as 36-year-old Zwelimphethe Chonco. One of two people who were with the deceased also sustained a gunshot injury in the leg. The assailant(s) fled unrecognised. Twenty-six empty cartridges were recovered on the bed and the floor.
