Two murders in a day in Alex

ALEX - Two murder incidents reported on 3 February.

According to Captain Allie Kodisang, the spokesperson for Alex Police Station, two murder incidents were reported on 3 February.

In the first incident, which occurred at midnight, police officers and paramedics were called to the scene on 14th Avenue and found a lifeless man from 13th Avenue lying on a bed in a shack.

Two friends of the deceased, who were with him, told police that the victim went out of the shack and on his return, fell asleep on a bed and did not wake up. The body was inspected and a stab wound was found on the victim’s chest. He was certified dead on the scene and the body was taken to a government mortuary.

In the second incident, police were called to Alex Clinic and found the body of a victim, said to be of a taxi driver from 16th Avenue, lying on a stretcher at 4.35am. The victim’s girlfriend claimed that he left their residence at 4am to go to work and she heard his name being called outside. She went out to check and found two men, a neighbour and another man from 6th Avenue, next to the victim who was lying on the road. Transport was arranged and took the deceased to the clinic were he died. Police found no visible injuries or marks on his body.

The two friends are assisting police in the investigation.
