The Growth Institute invites matrics to register for exciting opportunities

JOBURG – Students who are customer service orientated and strive for excellence will be considered.

With a high demand for well-qualified hotel supervisors and managers in South Africa, The Growth Institute said it has exciting opportunities for jobseekers.

According to the institute, the tourism and hospitality industry is fast becoming a growing sector in our economy, and the demand for well-trained staff is due to increase exponentially.

Growth Institute is a private education provider offering a range of commercial, technical tourism and hospitality management programmes.

“We have opportunities for the Class of 2017 who have not yet enrolled in tertiary studies this year,” said Peter van Nieuwenhuizen, an executive officer at the institute.

He said anyone with Grade 12 [60 per cent in math literacy and 60 per cent in English] can register, however, said they are specifically looking for candidates between the ages of 18 and 25.

“Candidates must be unemployed and those who want to use this opportunity as a means to change jobs will be disqualified.

“Working with selected four- and five-Star hotels in Gauteng, students are offered practical experiential learning opportunities. Students who are customer service orientated and strive for excellence will be considered.”

The registration for the courses are cost efficient but Nieuwenhuizen said there are substantial benefits including subsidies on their fees.

As a private college, he said some of their clients are major name hotels where the students will do their practical assessments.

“The course is an internationally accredited qualification in hospitality management.

“At the end of each year’s studies, students receive an international qualification that is widely recognised by the major hospitality brands.”

Classes start on 5 March and students need to register at their campus in Northcliff or by visiting their website no later than 1 March to be considered for placement.

The institute has a capacity for 50 students in the first-year class and students need to bring a copy of their matric certificate and their ID documents.

The executive said the students are closely observed and their clients often decide to absorb high-performance students into their workplace.
