One killed and another critically injured in Lombardy West

LOMBARDY WEST – A spaza shop was attacked in Lombardy West leaving one dead and another critically injured.

The Sandringham police are currently investigating the murder of a spaza shop owner in Lombardy West that occurred on 19 February.

The incident took place at a shop on the corner of Grenville and London roads at approximately 7pm. Station commander of the Sandringham police, Lindani Ndlovu alleged that an unknown number of suspects stood approximately three metres from the shop and fired at the two victims, who were foreign nationals, working at the shop.

“One of the victims was killed while the other was shot in the eye and is in a critical condition.”

Ndlovu added that nothing was stolen from the shop but it draws similarities to an incident in Alexandra Ext 7. The incident was reported in Alex News where two foreign nationals were shot several times in their store on 16 February.

He said they are still investigating the matter and are appealing to the public to bring forth any information that will assist in the investigation while remaining alert in the area.
