Some of the Alex residents join the A Re Sebetseng initiative.
Residents of Alexandra gathered in wards 105 and 116 on 3 February to continue with the City of Johannesburg Mayor’s clean-up campaign, which is a city-wide initiative to help keep the city clean.
“I was very pleased to see the people of Alexandra support the mayor’s initiative without hesitation, and show that keeping the environment clean is something they too are passionate about,” said organiser of the cleaning campaign in the two wards, former Democratic Alliance councillor and Alex resident, Shadrack Mkhonto.
Alex residents get their hands dirty as they clean the streets of the township in line with the City of Johannesburg’s A Re Sebetseng programme.
The A Re Ssebetseng programme took them to the two wards where they tackled the dirt in 16th, 18th, 19th and 20th avenues.
“I would like to thank all residents who assisted with cleaning the above-mentioned areas, and would like to encourage the residents to continue supporting the mayor’s initiative. We can keep our city clean one street at a time,” he said in a statement to Alex News.
Some residents of Alex are hard at work during the A Re Sebetseng campaign.
