2 women raped

ALEXANDRA – Woman allegedly raped by lover, another by known suspect.

Police are investigating two rape incidents committed on female victims allegedly by suspects known to them.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the first incident occurred to a victim of 3rd Avenue at a block of flats in Phase 2 in 7th Avenue. The suspect went to her place and allegedly accused her of stealing his pair of sneakers.

When she claimed innocence, they argued and he allegedly carried her on his shoulders to his place where he is said to have strangled her. He undressed her forcibly, pushed her onto a bed and allegedly raped her without a condom.

Afterwards, he ordered her to bath and locked her in a toilet overnight. The following morning in the suspect’s absence, she opened a window and saw a man collecting bottles nearby. She gave him her sister’s contact details which were passed on to the police who rescued her. It wasn’t specified at the time if the suspect was arrested.

The second victim was allegedly raped by her boyfriend in the afternoon on 14 January at a place they shared on 5th Avenue.

The suspect came home with food and offered it to the victim who was sleeping. When she declined, they argued and he left the place. She then packed her stuff which she took to her own place nearby. When he returned, he found a microwave and pots missing while she was packing more of her stuff.

He told her she wasn’t leaving as she was his wife and that he would fix her. He allegedly forced her onto a bed, pinned her down, forced down her pants and raped her. She claimed she couldn’t scream due to breathing problems.

When he stopped, she told him that she would report him. This seemingly enraged him and he claimed that he would shoot her. She escaped while he was searching for something under the bed and reported the incident to the Alex Police Station.
