Nyaope addict sent to jail for three years

ALEXANDRA – Nyaope addict jailed for breaking into his parents' home.

 

An Alex man who admitted that he stole from his parents to support his nyaope addiction was sentenced to three years imprisonment in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court. Another seven years in prison was suspended for five years.

Magistrate Renier Boshoff found Mandla Dlamini (28) guilty of housebreaking and theft. Dlamini pleaded guilty to the charges on 8 January.

The court heard that Dlamini (28) is living on the street with other addicts. The court heard testimony that Dlamini broke into his parents’ house in Extension 7 while his parents were both at work.

His parents suspected him of the crime and he was arrested on 11 January.

Dlamini admitted in court that he stole and sold a cell phone worth R4 000 and a pair of sandals for R350.
