Suspects face serious charges

NORWOOD – Police continue to arrest people who are caught on the wrong side of the law.

 

Norwood police arrested 39 suspects for committing various offences in the Joburg East area.

The suspects were arrested between 24 November and 1 December for various charges ranging from robbery to theft.

Spokesperson for Norwood Police Station, Captain Elliot Tshivhase said the arrests were as follows:

  • 1 for assault common
  • 1 for malicious damage to property
  • 1 for intimidation
  • 1 for rape
  • 1 for house robbery
  • 1 for warrant of arrest
  • 1 for possession of suspected stolen property
  • 1 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in a domestic violence case
  • 2 for theft
  • 2 for attempted theft and malicious damage to property
  • 2 for fraud
  • 3 for common robbery
  • 4 for shoplifting
  • 5 for drunk driving
  • 6 for attempted armed robbery
  • 7 for assault common with intent to cause grievous bodily harm

“All suspects appeared in court while others have made bail. Others remain in police custody for further investigation,” said Tshivhase.

“Police will continue to arrest people who commit a crime.”
