Three murders in a week

ALEXANDRA – Suspect arrested for partner's brutal murder.

 

Alex police attended to several murder cases in the township in the week ending 3 December.

According to police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang, the body of the first victim, identified by a relative as Themba Golele, was found by police at midnight on 29 November lying next to his motor vehicle on Field Street, Ext 7. He had gunshot wounds to the neck. His girlfriend and witnesses claimed they were approached by four armed male suspects who demanded cellphones and money which they handed over. Afterwards, they still shot him. His body was taken to a government mortuary.

The second victim, who is unknown, was found by the police at 6.50am on 2 December lying on 12th Avenue. He was bleeding from gunshot wounds to the head, mouth and legs. He was certified dead on the scene and the body was taken to a government mortuary.

The third victim, a woman identified as Zanele Matyhumaza, was found dead with multiple head injuries at a 17th Avenue home. The suspect, said to have been residing with the victim, was arrested after a relative pointed him out to the police. He allegedly assaulted her with multiple objects until she collapsed and was certified dead on the scene before the body was taken to a government mortuary.

Kodisang said two other suspects were also arrested for separate unspecified cases of murder and attempted murder and another known suspect was under investigation for attempted murder through stabbing which occurred at 5.30pm on 3 December in 15th Avenue.
