#ICYMI: Alex victim duped by fake car sale on Facebook

ALEXANDRA – Man loses R14 800 in fake car sale.

A suspect who sold his motor vehicle on Facebook is under police investigation for theft of R14 800 under false pretence.

Spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Captain Allie Kodisang said the suspect claiming to be a Mr Zulu and using the telephone number 063 945 4186 allegedly advertised a Toyota for sale on 7 November.

The victim of 14th Avenue, Alex responded telephonically that morning and was told by the suspect to deposit the total amount into a Capitec bank account which he did.

When the victim called to confirm the deposit, he was told by the suspect that his son was on his way to deliver the vehicle.

When no one arrived with the vehicle, the victim went to the bank to ask for the reversal of the deposit but was told to report the matter to the police.

It was not specified if anything was recovered as yet.
