Police officer allegedly assaulted, suspect behind bars awaiting court appearance

ALEXANDRA – Troublesome abuser nabbed for allegedly assaulting policeman.

A man who was acquitted recently by Alex Magistrates’ Court for domestic violence was arrested again for alleged common assault on a police officer and for domestic violence again.

Spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Captain Allie Kodisang said the incident occurred at an Ext 9 residence belonging to the suspect’s girlfriend.

The girlfriend went to the police station to report him for violent conduct and to ask police officers to assist her in retrieving her clothes at the house.

She was accompanied back home by officers and on arrival, the suspect allegedly reacted violently and insulted the officers. He refused to get into the police van and allegedly slapped the officer in the face.

Backup was called and the suspect was overpowered, forced into the van and was detained at the station pending further investigation and a court appearance.
