Jailed for roof top trespassing

ALEXANDRA – Wynberg residence trespasser gets three years behind bars.

A man who was forced to come down from the roof of a resident’s house was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for trespassing.

Sakhiwo Mncane (33) was sentenced on 3 October by Magistrate Renier Boshoff at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for the offence which occurred a day earlier. This after he admitted to have gone to the residence to steal a spotlight on the roof.

Security guards reacted to an alarm at 4.30am on 2 October at the Wynberg residence where they found the accused on the roof. They asked him to come down using a ladder he had used, but he refused. After the guards called for back-up from their dog unit, the accused came down and was arrested.
