Dr Knak children treated to a day of fun

ALEXANDRA – Spring is officially welcomed by the children of Dr Knak Primary School.

The children of Dr Knak Primary School were treated to a day of fun under the sun as a way to officially welcome springtime.

Jumping castles and a trampoline were crowded with little ones who could obviously not hide their excitement. The event was held at the Alexandra Stadium on 12th Avenue.

Grade 4 teacher at the school, Mamiki Mosethe said that this is a way for the children to stop playing with water in the name of spring.

“Because we have a water crisis, we are introducing a new culture of having fun under the sun, which keeps them away from playing in the water,” she said.

The children each had to pay R45 to take part in the day’s activities. The fee covered entry to the funfair and lunch (which included a hot dog, juice, fruit, sweets and chips.

Thabiso Ledibane, a Grade 5 child, said she enjoyed herself. “We usually have fun days at school and they have always been my favourites.”

Mosethe said the day could have been held earlier, but she did not want to disrupt the school programme.

“We recently held exams and we did not want to interrupt their preparations towards them [the exams] so we decided on a later date.”

Like any child, Realeboga Mokobuwa said he loved playing on jumping castles. “We only get to play on them [jumping castles] at parties, so this is fun,” he said.
