Grievous bodily harm charge on mom dropped

ALEXANDRA – Remorseful mom escapes GHB charge on her child.

A woman who was cautioned and discharged by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court after appearing in court on a charge of grievous bodily harm on her child, blamed emotions for getting the better of her.

The remorseful mother Kgomotso Moeketsi (35) who admitted before Magistrate Renier Boshoff to beating her six-year-old child swore that she would never do it again.

The incident which occurred at their residence a month ago resulted in the Grade 1 child sustaining a swollen eye from a beating with a wet towel by the accused. The injury was noticed by the school and confirmed by the child to social workers. The accused was arrested after admitting to assaulting her child as a corrective measure for rolling on the ground and dirtying a school uniform.
