Woman allegedly raped in Alex by two suspects, police investigate

ALEXANDRA – Police investigate rape case.

Police are investigating the alleged rape of a woman by three suspects on 10 September.

Spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Captain Allie Kodisang said the victim resides in the same premises as her boyfriend and his sister. “She asked the sister at 4.30am to accompany her to go retrieve keys from the boyfriend who was not at home.

“As they walked on Steve Ngcobo Street near the Jukskei River, they were approached by three suspects who allegedly demanded cellphones from them at knife point,” said Kodisang.

When the victim declined carrying a cellphone, two of the suspects pushed her up against a wall, undressed her forcibly and allegedly raped her with condoms one after the other.

“The victim burst into tears and they pushed her away, ordering her to be quiet or they would stab her. The suspects then left [the scene] with the companion [boyfriend’s sister] and the victim then proceeded to the boyfriend and told him of the ordeal.

“He in turn informed her mother who took her to a local clinic for treatment. It is unknown as yet whether or not the companion was raped or has returned home.”
